Spring Makeovers

I've always been a huge fan of "makeovers". It started years ago when the new Good Housekeeping magazine would come, the first thing I would turn to was the makeover of the month. I loved to compare the before and after (and someday I'm going to get my own before/after done by a professional!). I also love home makeover shows. Anyway, I decided to have some fun showing you our makeovers from this month. They are pretty mild makeovers compared to some but I hope you enjoy them anyway.

First there is Ollie...it was high time for his "summer cut" which means really short! He was a good boy and posed for pictures quite nicely.

Then it was Carlie's turn. She has very fine hair and we were starting to get more and more tangly the longer it got. So, after 4 1/2 years, she got her first trim. She was very pleased to find out that I was honest when telling her she wouldn't feel a thing and the lollipop afterwards was an added bonus.

Now it's time for Zack and Brock. They have very thick hair and it grows quickly. I finally bought a new pair of clippers so that they wouldn't keep asking to go to the barbershop instead of having mom take out chunks of their scalp with the old clippers! The new ones work great and they even convinced me to do a little bit of artistry with their new "do's".

JUST KIDDING!! I think both grandmas just had a heart attack!

The Real AFTER:

"P" for Pedersen!

"Z" (self-explanatory!)

Now for the flowers. I love flowers but I am not very much of a green thumb...just enough to get by. A few years ago, my sister-in-law Michelle, helped me arrange my flower beds and bring some color to the front of the house. The back row of bushes are still evidence of her hard work and they are really growing. The second row of bushes gave in to a late freeze two years ago so last year I put in some new things and to my delight they came back up this Spring! I do still have to plant some annuals and I may have gone a little crazy with them this year...we'll see...they may overrun the flower bed eventually. My big helper assisted in putting down the mulch. We haven't had to do any of our own watering because we have had so much rain. Now we can just sit back and watch them grow! Sorry the pictures aren't much better. If you click on them you can get a little better idea.

Now all we have to do is some re-seeding of the lawn. The weed killer put down about three weeks ago really worked and the lawn is looking better already. I'll try to send an update later in the summer when the flowers have HOPEFULLY grown AND the basketball hasn't run them all over!
Hope you enjoyed our makeovers. HAPPY SPRING! (It was only 35 degrees here this morning!!) But it will be 60-something by this afternoon and in the 80's by Wednesday.
