Each year is a different scenario regarding Zack's birthday and Brock's birthday. They are only 4 days apart! Brock was born three weeks early so it added an interesting twist to birthday celebration time. Some years we have completely separate parties. Other years we have had a joint party with both boys inviting their friends but definitely two separate cakes. This year we decided to make it a little easier and have a joint birthday party and a joint cake! Thank goodness! SpongeBob wasn't too awfully difficult but I can't imagine having to make another cake too. We also kept the guest list really small only inviting Zack's two best friends from school and Brock's good friend from school/neighborhood. Zack and Brock had a really great time and they'd like to thank the family members that sent them gifts and cards (Wow...is that the biggest cop-out for a handwritten thank-you note ever?...what has this world come to??).
I wasn't sure where to go with the theme this year but since Grandpa and Grandma Estes got them each a SpongeBob Lego set, we went with that. Thanks to Necco wafers and black string licorice for making it a little easier.
After eating some cake, we took all the kids to a farm close by that had a hayride, pumpkin patch, petting farm and hilarious little train ride that the big boys just HAD to go on. We were really looking forward to doing a corn maze but they weren't able to open that part of it this year. Oh well, the kids had fun running along the huge hay bales anyway. Hope you had a great birthday, Zack and Brock! We love you!
