On November 19th, Carlie turned 4! She is a little tall for her age so people have been assuming she is this old for awhile but now it is official. After three years of "just the six of us" celebrating her birthdays, she finally had a "friends" party. We invited four of her little Sunday school friends and they had a wonderful time together. After seeing both her brothers celebrate in October, Carlie was a pro at the birthday thing. I was pretty thrilled with the outcome of the cake, partly in thanks to a video tutorial on the web that gave me some good pointers. Probably the biggest helpful hint was to wrap the bottom half of the Barbie doll in saran wrap so it wouldn't get icing all over!
Brock's gift just couldn't be beat! He gave Carlie his origami whale that he had made in Sunday school along with the study cards for his memory verse, "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed." He was very serious about it and needless to say our children's pastor, who was in attendance, was thrilled (and highly amused) that the Sunday lesson was so gift-worthy! :-)
It seems that Grandma Pedersen (and Grandpa too) knows quite well that a Dora doll with a backpack filled with gum would be a huge hit! Wonder how she knew that??
Aunt Liz couldn't resist this apron with cakes and cupcakes all over it, since that is something special she and Carlie do together when Aunt Liz visits.
Hallie, Zack, and Brock are not sure how fair it is that Carlie's sleeping bag from Grandma and Grandpa Estes has an air mattress in the bottom of it and theirs don't!
Carlie helped me rake leaves a few days later and really enjoyed jumping in the piles...we love Fall!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BIG GIRL!
Here's the SHUTTERFLY ALBUM for the rest of the pictures.
